Baseball Bouncy Fun

In addition to baseball, they had bounce houses and games set up to kick off the start of baseball. Kathryn enjoyed watching her brother and had even more fun climbing all over the bleachers, but this is really what she came for.

Nate had so much fun. He couldn't wait for Lady to watch him go through the obstacle course over and over and over... and over again.
Waiting in line with her big brother.
She doesn't like him at home, but out in public she stays close to him and expects him to take care of her. It's so sweet.

Steve and I made Nate do this one. There he goes up the giant ladder against his wishes.
This was almost a straight drop and it looked like so much fun, but Nate didn't feel the same way. The guy at the top went down with him and you can see the terror on his face. I thought he would like it since he likes roller coasters. I guess I was wrong.
That concludes baseball's opening day events!

Little League Opening Day

Niceville Little League kicked off the baseball season last weekend with a parade and opening ceremony. Niceville treats Little League like Major League Baseball.

Throwing gang signs at his coach before they walk in the parade. Just kidding. I don't know what he's doing.
Nate on the far left walking around the field.
After the parade they lined up and shook the hands of all the baseball officials.
Lady watched the next generation baseball moms with envy. Her ballpark hey days are over.
After the opening ceremony, Nate ran into his Saturday soccer friends at the other side of the park so he joined them for a little soccer.
Nate is already talking about playing football too! I sure hope he changes his mind on that one considering he still fits into 4T pants and he'll be six next month!
We went home for about an hour then headed back out for his first real game. I could take about a million pictures of him in his uniform because he looks so cute and little.
They started off using the tee, but that was getting too easy.

After his first time at bat the coach pitched to him.
Running to first base.
 Safe on first.

Headed to second. He never got past second base because he was the second to last batter.
Headed back out to the field.
Keeping himself entertained while in the outfield.
After the game.

Playing Lunchroom

My bedroom was turned into an elementary school cafeteria. Nate and Kate had the entire set up. Trays, long table, cash register to enter their lunch code, you name it, Nate had it covered.
I think Kathryn is crying because Nate told her she could only take one of each food item.
This game was their obsession for a couple of days.

CDC Sunday Singer

Each year our school has a CDC Sunday where the kids who attend school there are invited to sing during the service. This was Kathryn's first performance so I couldn't wait to see it. Nate was so excited for her, as well. It was nice having Kathryn outshine Nate for that brief moment. It seems like we're always watching Nate do school programs and sports. Her time is almost here though!
I had to be there for my own class and of course, one of my students got up there and started crying so I had to hold him during their singing. I missed the first song because of him, and you can hear him crying on my lap during Jesus Loves Me.

The next day the kids were singing in the car. I managed to capture some of it. These are the moments I love.

Their constant battling is music to my ears! (Except after my days of teaching.)

Baseball Scrimmage

Nate's team had their first scrimmage a couple days ago. This is going to be a fun season. I thought it was fun watching him play soccer, but he looks even cuter out there playing baseball.

Here he is up at bat the first time.
He made it all the way to second base off that hit.
Unfortunately, he wasn't paying attention so he forgot to run to third.
He was busy dancing on second. He was probably singing too.
 He played short stop next.
He busted it his second time at bat too.
He made it to second again, except this time he was ready to run, but wasn't given the chance.
Then he played first base and made a couple of good catches. Catches are very rare in this group!
I can't wait until Saturday when he's all dressed up in his uniform and ready for his first game!

Qatar Conversations

The kids and I have managed to catch Uncle Joe as soon as he comes online a couple times now. We immediately call him and interrupt anything he actually came online to do. It's annoying, I know, but it's actually really funny to me. The first time he was about to start a movie, but Nate decided he would like to have a tour of his new living facilities, which resemble a prison, and then he requested a view of outside.

One of Nate's "things" at the moment is exploring foreign countries and learning about time zones. Uncle Joe fascinated Nate by walking him outside to see Qatar after midnight because it was mid afternoon at our house. I'm pretty sure Nate is going to expect to have more Skype tours of Qatar, even though he was just seeing on base.

The next time we talked it was late afternoon here so it was the middle of the night/early morning there. Of course, Nate needed to see a live update of what time of day it was there by asking Uncle Joe to take him outside to see it. He saw the moon there. That same moon he was going to see at his house later that day. Nate had a really good idea, but Uncle Joe declined. He thought it would be fun for them to stay on Skype all night long so Nate could watch it get lighter in Qatar as he watched it get darker in Florida, and vice versa. I can't imagine why Uncle Joe wasn't interested. I can't think of a better way to make a year fly by than to sit on Skype with Nate tracking days and nights. :-)

Studying up on his geography.

A Break in the Rain

We finally had a break in rain one day. We spent the entire day playing outside because there was no telling when our next outside play day would be.
 We brought out the inflatables.
They made up this game that involved Kathryn sliding down the slide head first and Nate jumping over her. That game ended exactly how you would expect it to.
Kathryn moved on to her pink baby Power Wheels. I'm not going to be the one to tell her she's outgrown it. She's perfectly happy riding it around and I'm perfectly happy not buying a new one.

Skype Party for Paw-Paw

Unfortunately, Paw-Paw wasn't at our house to celebrate his birthday this year. Just because we weren't together it doesn't mean we didn't celebrate together though! These kids aren't going to let Paw-Paw's birthday go unnoticed! Nate chose tacos (no surprise there) for the party dinner. I let Lady know what was on the menu, so she and Paw-Paw ate tacos too.
Wild party.
Kathryn enjoyed every bite of her cupcake while Nate just wanted to move the party outside to show off his new basketball goal. Which we ended up doing.
Hope you enjoyed your birthday, Paw-Paw! Many more exciting birthday parties to come!
Maybe one of these years we can have another birthday celebration like your 60th birthday celebration!

Another Kindergarten Birthday Party

I promised myself I was going to take a break from kindergarten birthday parties, but of course, he got an invitation to a gymnastics party. He couldn't resist that one.
