Biker Boy

Nate accomplished not one, but two giant kid milestones this summer. After some tough love and threats of not bringing him back to the pool (and Big Kahuna's Water Park season passes), he faced his fears and ventured out into unexplored waters. He mastered swimming within three days back in early June. Now he has no limits in the pool!

After dinner tonight, Nate and Paw-Paw decided to give the ol' bicycle another try. The stars aligned and Nate mastered the two wheel bike. Woo-hoo! Just in time for first grade!

Back to the Georgia Trip

While we were in Georgia Nate and Kate had a blast hanging out with Paw-Paw and Lady. Can you blame them?
They found an awesome, new playground.
Kathryn brought her daily bathing suit style with her to Georgia.
Nate climbed his way to the top.
Then laid back and relaxed.
They went to one of the worst places on earth, Chuck E. Cheese's.
Glad Paw-Paw and Lady are willing to take them there. After frequenting Chuck E. Cheese's in Rapid City when Nate was little, I've had my fill. We all know how gross that place is, but imagine that mixed with Rapid City. You get my point.
They had so much fun though!
Another day they went to the trampoline park.
They had so much fun there too.
Nate discovered Steak 'n Shake after the Peachtree Road Race. He loved it so much that I think he ate there four more times during that trip.
All dressed up, ready for church.
He put the DS down just long enough to pose for a picture with his sister.
 So sweet.
After church Nate and Kate sat with Emma for a picture.
Then Grandma jumped in for a pic!
It rained so much while we were there, but that didn't stop Nate and Kate from playing outside. Bathing suits are meant to get wet, right. She's always prepared.

Running laps around the house in the rain.
Kathryn was scared to go by herself in the rain, so her brave big brother held her hand and ran with her.
Here they come back around the front.
 So sweet.
More water fun. This was Kathryn's favorite bathing suit that week. It's the only one she wanted to wear.

Nate looks like Joe as a kid here.

Stay-cation

I'm kind of all over the place with these posts, but I have to just get in what I can, when I can. Before we left for Georgia, we had a stay-cation in Destin at Aunt Ruth and Uncle Larry's condo. My friend who moved away last fall came back for a visit. Her son was Nate's best friend so it was a happy reunion for all.
The kids from left to right: Nate, Katherine, Patrick, Libby, Kathryn, and Kate. Talk about a bunch of confusing names. Kathryn goes by Kate at school so that poor little girl heard her name nonstop. That's when the name Boomba came into play. No other Boombas ever.
Nate and Patrick and the Whale's Tail. One of Nate's favorite restaurants now.
After dinner we played on the beach a little bit.
This is Kathryn's best friend, Libby.
 Bunch of crazy kids.
 Beach boys.
Kathryn was found rubbing lotion all over her tummy in the bathroom.
There was plenty of DS playing going on with these two boys.
 Kathryn enjoying a snack.
Nate and Kate used to be an item when they lived in the same town.
That was a fun week together! Thanks for letting us use the condo, Aunt Ruth and Uncle Larry!

Peachtree Road Race 2013

This year I volunteered with Aunt Ruth and Lady at the Peachtree Road Race. We got there super early ready to work. We had to wake up at 3:30 a.m. which seems like it would be hard, but as soon as Nate heard my alarm go off he jumped out of bed and started running around the house yelling with excitement. He couldn't wait to get down there.

Once we got there we prepared ourselves for a long morning of rain.
Nate and Kate settled in to their spots.
 Looking all cute.
So cute, in fact, someone took a picture of them and got their names. Lady gladly jumped in and took full credit for them, despite the fact that their father is standing right there with them too!
The next morning Aunt Ruth opened the Atlanta Journal Constitution to find this picture! She told us about it and Steve went out to buy a stack of papers.
Uncle Larry participated in the Peachtree Road Race adventure from the side lines this year. You can see his excitement here.
Lady and Kathryn handing out water.
 Nate helping too.
A few people we know happened to be thirsty. Amanda and Tim.
Our friends who also live in Niceville stopped by to say hi at our water station.
Teresa ran over to say hi to the soon to be Peachtree celebrities.
Time for clean up. This is when it gets fun for everyone.
 Dunk Kathryn.
How convenient, Kathryn wore her patriotic bikini to splash around in the water.
