Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a great Halloween. We sure did!
All dressed up and ready to party.
We went to our friends' house for a pre-trick-or-treating party. Here are the kids filling their bellies with dinner before they collect all that candy.
Here they are all dress up. These kids are B-1 kids who just happen to also be stationed here.
Nate hit the streets on a mission: Get as many Kit Kats as possible. They're his favorite.
When we finished we came inside so the kids could inspect their loot. I think they were all pleased with their bags of sweets.
 Especially Nate.

Bluewater Elementary Corn Festival

We went to Nate's school's Corn Festival to enjoy some fun and games. As if we haven't been to enough festivals this month. They had bounce houses and games. One of the bounce houses they had was same one we rented for Nate's birthday party. It's way more fun when it's in my driveway for my own personal use. When I saw it all I could picture was Paw-Paw and Lady racing each other through it and Lady never making it to the end. Memories.

I didn't take any pictures other than on the hayride.

Mullet Festival 2013

I mentioned I don't like fairs, but I make an exception for the Mullet Festival. It's not a fair. It's a festival. We have gone for the past three years and the kids look forward to it every year. Not to mention, so do Paw-Paw and Lady. Here is our group making plans.
If Kathryn had her way she would have sat right there the entire time watching the cheerleaders, dancers and baton twirlers.
She decided she would like to get her face painted.
She had it painted to match her outfit.
I hate snakes, but I decided to try and impress Nate.
It was "deee-sgusting" as Kathryn would say.
 Rode some rides.
Again, the wristbands were $25 each at the Mullet Festival so I let Steve have the honors.
I didn't realize he was hungover until we overheard him telling the kids to go through the mirror maze house and let him take a break. Hilarious!
 There it shows.

The ferris wheel was more his speed that day.
Nate's Crocs gave him blisters so I took off Kathryn's socks and gave them to him to wear. Of course, he was photographed by the media here in this pose. He's the little boy in pink Minnie Mouse socks.
 Cutie Kate.
Nate and Kate ran through this obstacle course over and over again.
They hit the slide a few times.
Then I couldn't resist a fried Snickers bar. It was so good. I haven't stopped thinking about it since then.
All it took was Kathryn pointing to the word funnel cake and saying she wanted that. Just the design and font was enough to make Kathryn want it. There wasn't even a picture. Lady jumped at that opportunity because she had been wanting one all day.
Then she walked away and hid and ate it all so she didn't have to share it with anyone else. Just kidding, Lady! Hahahaha!
Another Mullet Festival come and gone. Hopefully we'll be around to see many more Mullet Festivals. We'll see what the Air Force says though.

The Fair

Steve has always loved the fair. He grew up going to the fair and has fond memories of the fair. I, on the other hand, was never taken to the fair because I was told it was gross. I didn't want to deprive my children of the great memories that I thought the fair might bring, so Steve and I have been taking them to the fair every location we live. My mom was right. The fair is disgusting. South Dakota to Alabama to Florida, the fair is gross. It has taken Steve this long to realize that the fair really is gross. He agreed that we don't have to go to anymore fairs. Our kids have their memories. It doesn't help that wristbands cost $20 each.
 Cute pictures.
I didn't get a wristband for myself so Steve got to go on all the rides that Kathryn wasn't big enough to go on herself.

After Steve had enough rides he couldn't take it anymore either and we let the kids go through the obstacle course about 10 times each to make us feel like we got our $100 worth of fair fun and food.
On the way out I was approached to join the local roller derby team.
Nate didn't help me out at all. As they were hounding me to join the team Nate was standing there telling me how cool it would be if I were one of them. That's the last time I wear my workout clothes out. I thought I would be okay going to a fair after the gym.

Preschool Pumpkin Patch

Kathryn's class took a field trip to the pumpkin patch earlier this month. Of course, I joined them.

They played sink or float in the tub of water.
 My sweet little girl.
"I choose this one."
These are her favorite pants of all time. As soon as they are clean she wears them again.
 Kathryn and her friends.
 Love this little girl.
 Craft time.
 Planting pumpkin seeds.
 Choosing a little pumpkin.
We carved our pumpkin last night. Kathryn designed the face. Lucky for me she's only seen basic jack-o-lanterns.

Wacky Mack's Birthday Bash

We adopted Mack last October and were told he was about 2 years old. I gave Nate the opportunity to pick his birthday in the month of October. He went with October 1, so he's officially (as far as we're concerned) three years old now. We celebrated with cupcakes and gifts and lots of love and hugs and kisses.

Kathryn planned this party theme. She wanted pink cupcakes with white frosting and pink gum balls on top. I bought a cake mix with the intention of making cupcakes, but then I went to The Fresh Market and bought the last of the already made pink cupcakes (lucky) and scooped out just pink gum balls. She got exactly what she wanted. Then again, when doesn't she get exactly what she wants though? I even threw in pink pretzels. You can never have too much pink when dealing with Kathryn.

We love you Mackerson Wackerson Bad Dog! That's his "official" name.

Nate mentioned that Mack is going to have to start behaving better because he's three years old now. No puppy excuses. He at least wants to see some noticeable progress. You got that, Mack?

Training Days

Nate has been planning a huge family race ever since we went to the Peachtree Road Race in July. He had a vision of racing against Uncle Joe and leaving him in the dust. He not only wants that, but he wants his entire family to smoke those Haggertys. He's been coupling competitors and training us based on our needs. I'm against Lexi. Kathryn is against Jessica. Uncle Joe and Daddy are Nate's major competitors so he's not handing out any training tips to them.

Ballerina Biker

After dance class tonight, Kathryn came home and wanted to give her two wheel bike another try. She has been practicing on her balance bike inside for for a couple of months, so she must have mustered up enough courage to go outside with her real bicycle and give it go. (Purple leotard, center)
I took her tap shoes off and carried her out to the car, so when she got home she wasn't wearing any shoes. That didn't slow her down at all.
The process.

And she's off...
It always helps to have your big brother run along side of you and cheer you on.
Success. You know you've made it when you're able to ride down to the cul-de-sac.
Congratulations, Boomba! You're such a big girl!!! (You'll always be my baby girl, though!)
