Hotel Farewell

Apparently, Nathan made this hotel look like so much fun that Oma and Opa couldn't resist checking it out. They came out for a visit with the excuse that they wanted to see Nate and Kate, but the truth is, they really just wanted to play in the halls too.
Nathan and Opa having fun in the spacious halls.
They got a room right beside ours andNathan thought that was awesome being able to run back and forth. He must have worn himself out running between rooms because he passed out on their uncomfortable couch too.
Kathryn and Oma doing pat-a-cake.
It looks like this is our last night in the hotel. Everybody thought this was going to be just terrible, but it was actually kind of fun. It will be nice being at our own house though.
One perk at being at our own house is not having Chili's (the place where Paw-Paw spilled his drink last September) visible from our window. He asked to go there every day. Here he is for the last time, thank goodness.
Here he is checking out his bedroom closet.
Playing with his airplanes on the new carpet. I love new carpet. It feels so clean.
Kathryn is happy to be at her own house now too.
She is trying her hardest to roll over.
Nathan said, "Lady really likes toys." Then he carried his stuffed animals to her room. He calls our spare bedroom "Lady's room."
Nathan was Kathryn's babysitter while I organized stuff.
I always have more pictures of Nathan than Kathryn, so I'm adding this one. Nathan stuck a bobble beside her while she was sleeping. I came back and saw her later and she had her arm around it.

2/3 Month Check-Up

Baby Sister went for her two month check-up a couple of days ago (even though she's three months, that's the way it is with one pediatrician for an entire base). She is doing everything she's supposed to, and then some. After the nurse did all of her stuff, the doctor came in and checked her out and told me that I could start her on cereal. I said, "really?" He said, "Sure, she's almost four months old, right?" I told him that she would be three months the next day. He said, "In that case, she is doing extremely well for her age." He told me I had a perfect baby. Seriously, he did. I told him I that I thought so too.

It looks like Nathan won't be calling Kathryn his little sister, but instead he'll have to call her his younger sister. She is 24 inches long, which is 88th percentile. She's also 12 lb 12 oz, which is 84th percentile. Only once in Nathan's life has he ever made it to just the 50th percentile, and that was for weight. He's hovered around the 25 or below percentile his whole life. Baby Sister is a big gal. That just means there's more of her to love!

She also had to have five shots. It was awful. I could have easily matched her screams and cries as she was getting stabbed repeatedly in her plump little thighs. This picture is so sad with the band-aids on her legs.
While I'm tugging at your heart strings, this was Nathan after Paw-Paw and Lady hung up on him after Skyping for over an hour. He just wasn't quite ready to end the conversation. He kept saying, "Call them back. I don't want them to hang up." He was having too much fun entertaining them with his mad dancing and singing skills, and chatting about everything that popped in his head. I mean, he talked nonstop for over an hour. He definitely doesn't have a shortage of things to talk about.
He cried for a minute, then I asked him if he wanted to go swimming and everything was immediately okay.
We have to take advantage of all the hotel amenities because we'll be back home this weekend.
Baby Sister had a good time at the pool too. Nathan was a bit concerned that Baby Sister didn't have any swimming trunks. He told me that I need to go buy her some.

Big Brother & Bodyguard

Nathan keeps a close watch on anyone who comes near Baby Sister. One day we were at the mall playground (again) and these three boys, who were at least three times older than Nathan, ran past Baby Sister's car seat. Nathan stepped in front of her and started yelling at these boys. He is usually pretty timid around older kids, but not if it involves Baby Sister. He was yelling, repeatedly, "NO! Don't touch Baby Sister! Leave her alone!" I swear, we are going to get beat up one of these days. We seriously need to move ASAP.

Then, when we were at the bowling alley, I was getting Nathan some ketchup with Baby Sister hanging from my arm in her car seat. A nice lady offered to hold her for me, so I let her so that I could finish getting the ketchup. I didn't want to put her down on the nasty, wet floor. Nathan immediately rushed up to the counter and politely told the lady, "That's our baby. That's our baby." He just wanted to make sure that she knew that her possession of Baby Sister was only temporary.

I can't believe I was worried about Nathan's reaction to gaining a baby sister. He sure proved me wrong.
