Happy Mother's Day!

I took Steve up on the offer of sleeping late for the first part of my Mother's Day present. I wasn't even sleeping, I was just lying in bed listening to Kathryn get mad at her daddy over and over because he wasn't doing things exactly like she likes things done. Then, Nathan told me that we have to do lots of fun things on Mother's Day. I asked him what kinds of fun things, and he responded with, "Go to the playground then play with his dinosaurs." Lucky me, right? It gets better. After church Kathryn was exhausted, so Steve and Nathan went to the playground while I stayed home with her. Good thing because that gave Steve and Nathan the opportunity to make their annual stop at the dollar store. I'm the proud new owner of a polyresin frog. I'm still trying to figure out which way it goes.
Who wouldn't want this? It's so versatile.
It's like three gifts in one.
That's not all I got for being such a great mom. Nathan and Kathryn made me something special at school. Here is Nathan's handprint flower.
Kathryn's little handprints in the shape of a heart.
I actually do love those. I am having them framed. And last, but not least, my Mother's Day gift from "Steve." Thank you, Steve. How incredibly thoughtful of you.
My first Mother's Day as a mother crept up on Steve and he was totally unprepared. He took Nathan out at the last minute to buy me a card from Dollar Giant down the road from our house in Rapid City. Unfortunately they were out of Mother's Day cards, so he got me a "Happy St. Patrick's Day" card and scribbled over it. While he was there he also got me a little figurine. Once again, how thoughtful of him, knowing I hate that kind of stuff. To be funny again the next year, he went back and got me another figurine. Then it became a tradition and Nathan actually started picking them out himself. Next year Kathryn will be old enough to help out in the decision-making process. She would have broken everything breakable in that aisle and we would have had to buy a bunch of broken Dollar General knick-knacks.
Happy Mother's Day to you, Mom!
