I haven't posted all week, so I have a lot of catching up to do. As reported on the last post, Nathan missed school on Tuesday. He also missed gym class on Wednesday. (He did a make-up gym class on Friday, though.) He must have been extremely exhausted because he slept until 11 a.m. He's been battling a cough, so he needed the sleep.
I snuck in his room to check on him and he didn't even stir. I even took pictures of him and the flash didn't bother him either. He's so cute when he sleeps. He's always in crazy positions. I never get to watch him sleep anymore so I jumped at the chance to take pictures of him.
Nathan went to school on Thursday and Ms. Tiffany and Ms. Dana were so happy to see him. He was happy to see them, too. They told him how much they missed him and he sat down at the table and played with them. He forgot about me before I even made it out the door. Then when I picked him up he saw me and smiled, but kept right on playing. I guess he was just as ready to spend some time away from me as I was from him!
Grandma took Nathan to Chuck E. Cheese. The pizza is horrible, but Nathan absolutely loves the character, Chuck E. Cheese, so we have to keep going there. Nathan doesn't cry much, but he gets very emotional and cries real tears when Chuck E. Cheese disappears behind the curtain. Every time. At least there are plenty of games to play and buttons to push to help take his mind off the devastation.
Grandpa brings surprises home from work. He put his bag down and told Nathan he better not look in it. Of course, he looked and found more bobbleheads.
Checking out the newest additions to his bobblehead collection.
Nathan's bobblehead imitation is usually better than this one, but I thought this one was pretty funny. You can tell he's not interested in me at the moment, but he does a quick imitation to shut me up.
This is Nathan's reaction every time he's given a new car to add to his collection. Now you can see why he has so many cars!
Nathan spent some time catching up with Mace this week.
Grandpa went to a hockey game one night, so Nathan and Grandma and I went out to eat. I have to eat as much seafood as I can while Steve is deployed because he's anti-seafood. More specifically, he's anti-anything-that's-not-steak.
Knowing how much Nathan loves costume characters, I would be a horrible mother if I didn't take him to story time on Saturday. He was excited to see Winnie the Pooh walk in during the story. He's not into posing with the characters, he just likes to kind of hang out with them and touch them.
Of course, we couldn't leave until Nathan played with the train set for a little while.
It's a good thing Nathan was around to help Grandpa move the furniture out of the family room. I don't think he could have done it without Nathan's help.
If you turn your back on Nathan for two seconds, it's likely that he'll be standing on a table when your turn back around.
One of Nathan's favorite toys of the season is the Nativity set. He sets up various scenes with the figures and even includes the bobbleheads. The stable doubles as a parking garage for his cars.
Even Great Grandma Gerken (who will be 89 next week) follows Nathan's and Cousin Emma's blogs. I never would have imagined Great Grandma Gerken sitting down with a laptop and reading something on the internet. This picture doesn't have anything to do with Nathan, but I love it. I wonder when Mace is going to realize he's all grown up and a little too big to fit on my lap. I hope never.
Pretty good blog this week...it's about time.
ReplyDeleteSee, I'm not the only one who gets antsy. I just mention it sooner than other people.
