What's All the Skype About?

I would have to say that turning 90 years old is a pretty big deal. Today is Great Grandma Gerken's 90th birthday, so to help her celebrate, Kathryn Skyped with her. Nathan wasn't in the Skyping mood this morning, so he didn't cooperate. However, he did mention that Great Grandma Gerken doesn't run fast. The fact that she's 90 years old might have something to do with that. (He still remembers her telling him that she couldn't run laps with him up and down the courtyard at her assisted living facility when we were there last July.)

Great Grandma Gerken has only gotten to see Kathryn in pictures, so she was excited to get to watch her movements and listen to her cute little noises.
With all this talk about birthdays, I have to mention that Kathryn turned one month old yesterday. She's done with her newborn clothes and she's moved up to size 1 diapers. My little girl is growing up!

If Steve had it his way, Kathryn would skip over this whole baby stage and jump right to 18 months, maybe even two years old. He offered to take care of Kathryn last night, so I could have one night of uninterrupted sleep. (I know he offered expecting me not to take him up on it. Ha! The joke was actually on both of us.) I knew exactly how this was going to turn out, but I figured I would give it a try. After about an hour and half of not being able to calm her down, he woke me up and asked me to get her to sleep. I got her calmed down and put to sleep, while Big Baby Steve took a time out and calmed down. That was pretty much the routine throughout the night. So much for that good night's sleep. At least Steve admitted that he has a new found respect for what I do all day, every day. That alone was worth it!

On to a new topic. Like I mentioned before, Nathan has been wanting to open some presents, but Steve won't let him. I decided that since Nathan isn't allowed to open his presents, I would let him open one of mine. My parents aren't here to tell me no, so I figured I would take advantage of the situation. Lady brought me a present from Mace and Hank when she visited. I had an idea of what the gift was, but I was very surprised to see that it was paintings of Mace and Hank.

Opening that present helped satisfy Nathan's desire to open presents. Mine too. I think we might be able to last until Christmas day now. Sorry Mom and Dad, I couldn't help it, but you should be glad I love the gift.
