He got to pour as many sprinkles as he wanted in as many varieties as he could choose.
This cake is perfect for a three year old and Steve.
Kathryn celebrated Valentine's Day with a party at school. I dropped by her classroom to get a few shots of the party girl in action. Here she is with her teacher about to get the party started.
There is one pink chair in Kathryn's classroom. The others are just natural wood. Kathryn's teachers informed me that Kathryn has claimed that one pink chair. She will go out of her way to rearrange the chairs to get the pink chair to her spot at the table. The other kids just know that the pink chair is Kathryn's. I don't know how she's managed to do it, but she's kind of the queen bee of her infant class.

Eating a cupcake while holding her dirty leg warmers.
This looks like quite the party!
Nathan had a party at school too, but that was the day I wasn't there. As soon as we got home from school, though, we dumped out his bag of cards and candy. I sorted through all the sweets and scarfed down most of the good candy, leaving him with the tootsie rolls and heart shaped suckers.
Here's a funny story. Nathan and I were at McDonald's and an old lady told Nathan he was handsome and asked him if he had a girlfriend. He told her no, so now they're going out tonight. Just kidding. The old lady really did say all that though. His response to her was, "I have lots of girlfriends at school."
Steve and I got Nathan and Kathryn some chocolates.
This picture is very deceiving. It looks like they're being sweet and kissing, but Nathan is really just trying to keep Baby Sister away from the candy.
Kathryn sees that red heart on the table and goes nuts until she gets a piece of chocolate now. As soon as she sees she's getting her way she just grins and giggles.
At this point you might be wondering what the planetarium has to do with a Valentine's Day post. Kathryn wore her heart dress there, which totally makes it V-Day worthy.
Hitching a ride through space.
In addition to dinosaurs, Nathan's new interest is the solar system. Nathan lists off the planets and tells me a few simple facts about each one. With that being said, Steve and I decided to take Nathan to a planetarium. We needed to brush up on our space knowledge to be able to keep up with our three-year-old.

At the very beginning of Nathan's solar system fascination he was asking if airplanes could fly to other planets. We explained to him that the moon and other planets are too far for airplanes to fly to and that he would need a space shuttle. His response, "Maybe we can buy one." Daddy can fly airplanes, so why wouldn't he be able to purchase and fly a space shuttle too?
During the presentation it was pitch black in the theater. Nathan thought that we had gotten on a space ship and were actually seeing all the planets as they showed them on the ceiling. He was totally freaked out and asked if we could go back to earth. At this point you might be wondering what the planetarium has to do with a Valentine's Day post. Great pictures! I love Nathan's shirt.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why Kathryn feels she needs to have the pink chair. Oh wait I forgot, everything she owns is pink so she feels its her birthright. Its funny how no one challenges her.
ReplyDeleteI love Nathan's shirt too (and Kathryn's dress!). I should get a shirt like that for Karl, since I'm getting competition from the cute little girls at school now...
ReplyDeleteShe may be in a class with babies, but they're not dumb. It only takes one "Wrath of Kath" experience to learn that you don't want to experience it again.
