I have been wanting to visit the Georgia Aquarium for a long time, so when the weather was perfect over the weekend, we jumped at the opportunity to head downtown. Unfortunately, everyone else had the same idea, including every cheerleader from across the nation. There was a national cheerleading competition going on near the aquarium. (Steve is probably kicking himself for not going with us now.)
Nathan was excited to get this adventure started.
As I was pushing Kathryn around, everyone was smiling and talking about how cute and happy she is. That's when Paw-Paw decided to take over stroller duties to make sure everyone knew she was with him.
My babies and me.
It always takes multiple pictures with us. We can never all be ready for the picture at the same time.
This picture is specifically for Uncle Joe.
Watching Nate and Kate experience the fish was the best part.
We all enjoyed the aquarium, but Kathryn definitely showed the most excitement.
Lady, Paw-Paw and I each took a turn crawling with Nathan and Kathryn through a tunnel through the water to get a better look at some fish. There was a lot of crawling happening there.
Doesn't that fish realize he ruined our picture?
Nathan took it all in.
Paw-Paw will do anything for this little boy. He stood in the ridiculously long line so that they could go on the crawling tour of the penguins. You have to crawl the entire way through tunnels to see the penguins. Lady and I were like, "No thanks, see ya later!" Look in the big long window in the center of the picture to see Paw-Paw and Nathan crawling through the tunnel.
There they are looking at the penguins face to face in the window on the left.
Kathryn enjoyed the penguins too.
Nathan wasn't so sure about this at first, but he finally decided it was safe to pet the sharks and stingrays.
He didn't want to have anything to do with those starfish and urchins and other harmless sea creatures, though.
No surprise here, Kathryn stuck her hand right in the water and splashed around.
Before we left I gave Kathryn another chance to pet the sharks and stingrays. She thought it was fun, but she thought it would be more fun to get in the water. I didn't let her, but that didn't stop her from trying over and over.
The slippery stingray.
Nathan had fun picking out stuff in the gift store before we left. Gift shops are super fun when Paw-Paw and Lady are with him!
Kathryn was exhausted after her full day of excitement and adventure.
Lady took full advantage of the cuddle time with Kathryn.
Now Nathan can mark the world's largest aquarium off of his "Been There, Done That" list.
We ate lunch at CNN Headquarters.
Chowing down on Chick-fil-a.
Kathryn loves Chick-fil-a too.
Here are some pictures of the animals at the aquarium.
This fish is for Opa. Nathan immediately said, "Mommy, those fish are like Opa's fish in Minnesota!" All those days of fish watching at Opa's aquarium paid off.
When Nathan looked at this picture he asked if the alligator's neck was broken.
Sea turtle.
I discovered my favorite fish. It's the tiger fish.
After we got home we were reading "Curious George at the Aquarium" and George talked about the beluga whales. I reminded Nathan about the beluga whales we saw and he said, "Those were just on TV." Apparently, he thought he was watching these whales on a giant TV.
Good thing I've already got my Atlanta smashed penny or I'd be jealous.
ReplyDeleteNathan has been watching too much Dora the Explorer if he thought it was safe to pet the sharks!!!
