One Last Visit

Oma and Opa brought Cousin Karl out to South Dakota for one last visit while we're here. Nathan had the time of his life hanging out with Karl. He's 6-years-old, which means he's awesome.
The fun started with a trip out to see the B-1. Karl already has the cocky pilot aura about him.(I wasn't along so I don't have pictures, but luckily Karl had his camera so he got some pictures for me to steal.)
Nathan wasn't able to pull off that same cool look Karl gave.
The next day, Opa, Steve, Karl and Nathan took a boys' trip to Reptile Gardens.
It looks like they got to pet a baby crocodile or an alligator this time.
Nathan and Karl had a good time jumping on the bed in Oma and Opa's room. I loved it when Nathan was calling for Karl to jump on the bed, Oma was offering him chocolate cake and Steve was calling him to come watch a Twins game. Talk about feeling torn. Karl said, "What do I do? Jump on the bed, eat chocolate cake or watch the Twins?" I think he really enjoyed his vacation.
Karl even visited with Kathryn.
Karl thought that feeding Kathryn sounded cool until he tried it and realized it isn't really as exciting as he thought it was going to be.

Kathryn had fun watching all the excitement of Nathan and Karl.
We also went to The Mammoth Site. It's an active dig site for mammoth bones. It's pretty cool. Steve, Nathan and I went there a couple of years ago and really liked it, so we were happy to go when we found out that was on Karl's "to do list." You can see what it is here.

Nathan and Karl helped dig for mammoth bones and uncovered this gem.
Baby Sister stumbled upon some bones, also.
Karl and Kathryn just chilling. This land was initially intended for a housing development, but once they started digging they found all these mammoth bones. It's pretty cool.
Of course, Nathan also discovered the crayons.
Climbing on the rocks and playing outside at The Mammoth Site.

They went swimming a couple of times.
They checked out Dinosaur Park one last time. Kathryn was sleeping so I waited in the car with her.

Nathan also showed Karl the best playground ever.

I asked Karl if it really was the greatest playground and his response was, "Well, it is a really good playground."
I tried to impress Nathan by hanging upside down. He didn't care one bit, though.

That was another really good cousin vacation. In fact, it was so much fun that I asked Aunt Deborah to loan Karl to us for the summer. Unfortunately, he's too busy this summer so we can't have him. We all had so much fun hanging out with Karl, but Nathan especially thought that visit was exciting!

  1. That was an awesome trip! I laughed when you said that Kathryn found a mammoth bone! I really liked that Nathan wanted to play with me all the time and that we got to go to cool places.
