Birthday Bowling

Somehow we lucked out when we chose our house online. We live in a cul-de-sac with two other three-year-old boys.... as well as a ton of other kids. Tyson, one of the boys, had a birthday party at the bowling alley on base, so Nathan gladly attended
Nathan and I make quite the cake-eating team. I only like a teeny-tiny bit of frosting, and that's all Nathan likes, so he ate my frosting too.
His first piece of cake was green, in case you couldn't tell.
Despite having the frosting off of two pieces of cake, he crashed on the way home.
Funny story about Tyson's birthday gift. Nathan and I went to Target to pick out a really cool, loud fire truck. We got it home and and sat it on the table, still in the bag. When I left the room, my scam artist son played on his daddy's weakness of not knowing what's going on around here. He walked to the table and asked Steve if he could have his truck now. Steve said okay. I walked in in the midst of Nathan's deception and gave a "what in the world?" look and Steve immediately remembered Tyson's birthday without me having to say a word. The funny thing about this story is, at night we always talk about our day while we lie in bed before falling asleep and Nathan told the whole story about how Daddy gave him Tyson's fire truck. He knew exactly what he was doing with Steve. While that fiasco was going on, Nathan never once mentioned Tyson's name to Steve. Bottom line, Nathan loves his new fire truck so I'm sure Tyson is loving his, as well.
Tyson came over and played one day. He was very impressed with Nathan's car and airplane collection.

Here are a few other pictures from the past couple of days. One night Nathan was taking one of his ridiculously long baths with no end in sight. I filled Kathryn's baby tub up in the shower, which sparked Nathan's interest. He decided he was ready to get out of the tub and join Baby Sister in her exciting shower bath. This is going to be something I'll regret starting. Now Nathan is going to want to play in the "splash park" every night with Kathryn.
The real fun began when Nathan found the hand-held shower head. Poor Baby Sister.
Our bathroom has turned into Nathan and Kathryn's playroom.
Here is Nathan teasing Mace. This kind of stuff goes on all day long and it drives me nuts.
Nathan knows exactly what to do to push Mace's buttons and Mace is such a sucker for his tricks. They have a real love-hate relationship. Mace picks on Nathan too. When Nathan is riding his trike around the house, Mace stands in his way and won't let him by. He also blocks beds and couches when he sees Nathan heading towards them. He walks along them and won't let Nathan near them. It's pretty funny.

Kathryn has outgrown the infant car seat, so she's riding in style in a new big girl car seat. That means I have to unbuckle her at every stop now, which sucks, but she loves riding in the shopping cart. At first, every time I would move the cart she would give her hilarious/obnoxious squeal of delight for everyone in the store to hear.
Kathryn thinks she is such a big girl. She doesn't prefer baby food anymore, but she'll eat it. She actually prefers feeding herself. I have to cook her carrots, sweet potatoes, and green beans so that she can feed herself. She also loves bananas and plums. She pretty much loves anything she can feed herself.

Like here, she got ahold of Nathan's plate of left over curry and chowed down on the rice. I swear she has go-go-gadget arms because she reaches stuff there is no way she should be able to get.... thus broken dishes on the tile floor.
This is too weird, but here Nathan is playing haircut. To make a long story short, the guy cutting his hair wore a bunch of jewelry. Those are "bracelets" on Nathan's arms and he puts them on and asks if anyone wants a haircut.
Riding his trike around the cul-de-sac. I don't know if I'll ever be able to not live in a cul-de-sac after living here. It gives you so much more space to ride toys and play without worrying about traffic.
The mall here has a carousel in it. Much better than Rapid City's ghetto mall, as Nathan now says. I couldn't get any action shots because I had to hold Kathryn on a horse. She even enjoyed it too.

  1. Looks like everyone's enjoying the new place!

Nathan's "bracelets" made me laugh. I'm guessing he gets his hair cut in a salon as opposed to a barbershop? :)

    We'll rescue you soon, Mace.
