Jessica's Meet & Greet

We had a big family gathering in Georgia to celebrate Jessica's baptism. That was my first time getting to meet her and let me tell you, she is perfect. She is such a pleasant baby. The only time I heard her remotely cry was when Joe was playing the role of lazy daddy, acting like he didn't know what she wanted when all she wanted was for him to stand up. I've seen that helpless "I don't know what she wants." performance done way too much over the past three years to believe it.
Steve and I are her godparents.
Nathan is assuming responsibility as Jessica's keeper, as well.

Emma sat in front of Kathryn during church. Kathryn was trying to get her hands on Emma the entire time.
Great Grandma Gerken looks like she's done pictures similar to this one several times before.

When we got home from church, Nathan said, "It's time to have a party for Jessica. Let's eat cake now." He waited patiently through the meal and made sure not to fill up on too much other stuff so that he wouldn't ruin his appetite for cake.
Nathan was having so much fun that he didn't want to stop the game of grocery store for a potty break until Emma agreed to wait for him.
After they made their purchases, they went home and unloaded their groceries.
Nathan must have had a really good time playing with Emma because he asked Paw-Paw to call Emma to come play grocery store with him Monday morning.
They showed each other how high they could hold the gardening tools.
Anytime Nathan sees an old lady with this gray hairdo, he jokingly says, "Is that Grandma Gerken?"
It's not out of the ordinary for Kathryn to wear nothing but a diaper, but we try not to make it a habit when we have a house full of guests. She was in the process of a wardrobe change for a photo shoot here.

When the party was over, Nathan and Emma shared a good-bye hug.
Kathryn was impressed with her baby cousin, as well.
Nathan loved Jessica too. He even showed her his chewed up chicken. I think she was impressed.
Jessica is so sweet and cuddly. You just want to snuggle in on the couch and hold her.
It was nice meeting you, Jessica. I love you! See you soon!!!

  1. I love that Nathan wanted to know "where's he taking her" when the Pastor brought Jessica to the front of the church. Such a curious little boy, but one that Uncle Joe doesn't mind being around his baby girl.
