Kate Post

Some people might argue that Kathryn is just making baby sounds and there is no meaning to her sounds. Well, I'll keep my comment to those of you to myself. To me, she is saying my name over and over and I love it.

Kathryn is the messiest eater ever. Bibs just don't cut it any longer. Now I just strip her down to a diaper and give her a quick rinse in the tub after her meal.

Kathryn looks like she is truly concerned for Nathan's safety when he holds his power tools up to his face. It never fails, she yells every time he pushes the button. The funny thing about it is that she doesn't care when Steve drills his face. She only cares about her big brother.

Even after all these months of being picked on by him, Kathryn still thinks her big brother is wonderful. So wonderful that she even says, "Ba ba" while she looks at him because I always call him "Brother" when I'm talking to her. That might just turn into a "Bubba," especially while living in Alabama. My children, Bubba and Baby Sister.

While I'm on the subject of Baby Sister, I'll share a funny, funny story. It threw me for a loop and I felt like I was confused in a dream as it was occurring, but once I realized what was going on, I found it to be funny. I stopped at Krispy Kreme for some delicious doughnuts. I walked in and was greeted by Sarmonica. She walked to the back a couple of times and greeted me each time she walked back out like it was the first time she ever saw me before in her life. Sarmonica kept talking about my baby. "He's so cute. He keeps watching me. He wants some doughnuts. How old is he?" It was easier to just let her think that Kathryn was a boy (despite her pink and yellow shirt with hearts on it) than to carry on more of a conversation than was necessary. Then she asked what his name was. I answered, "Kathryn." She looked at me confused and said, "Oh, that's different. Like that one store?" Not knowing what store, I said yes. Then I realized why she thought it was so different. She continued to talk about Kathryn as a boy, which is why she thought the name Kathryn was so different. I suppose I would be confused if someone told me their son's name was Kathryn, as well. Ahhhh, sweet home Alabama. I love it here. I'm not joking. I really do.

  1. Karl and I got a kick out of the videos. Of course she's saying "Mama!" So cute! We also like Nathan's southern accent (although that means you fell down on the job, Steve!) :)

  2. Kathryn getting all upset over Nathan's toy is like Grandma G watching cartoons. "Oh no, he's going to hit his head! Oh dear!"
