Bobble Sucker

No doubt, Nathan is a sucker for bobbles. How could I pass this bobble up knowing how much he would love it? He was excited when he thought he was just getting a bobble. He didn't realize that the legs come off to reveal a sucker. He was amazed at this incredible invention. He talked about it for two days. He even told Lady about his bobble sucker when he was talking to her on the phone.
He told Lady that his bobble sucker was all gone. So Lady's response to that was, "Oh it's okay, your mommy will go buy you another one." Nathan asked me about that new bobble sucker all day yesterday. Finally, we went to the store and bought another one. Actually, I bought two more for when he tells Lady this bobble sucker is all gone too.
We also went to see the airplanes today. We haven't been in a while so I figured he might enjoy it. Of course, he loved it.
This is his funny new trick. When I ask him to do something that he doesn't want to do, he drops down and says he's sleeping.

Paw-Paw Withdrawal

If Steve and I have to listen to another Paw-Paw story I think we're going to go nuts. Everything is "Paw-Paw does this or Paw-Paw says this." We've been home for over two weeks, but he still asks to go to Paw-Paw and Lady's house several times a day.

Every night as Nathan is falling asleep he tells me the same train story over and over until he falls asleep. It goes like this, "Paw-Paw found the train. Paw-Paw ran fast. The train went fast. The train whistled. I was scared, but Paw-Paw held you (he means 'me')." Paw-Paw heard a train coming so he scooped Nathan up while we were in Marietta Square and ran him over to the tracks so he could see the train. After we got home to Rapid City, Nathan and I were stopped by a train near our house and I pointed it out to him. He got so excited and told me that Paw-Paw found that train too.

Then we were buying toothpaste one day and he noticed the mouthwash on the other side of the aisle. He wanted to go see the orange kind. I pushed him to it and he told me "Paw-Paw drinks that."

As he runs up and down the hall he yells, "Paw-Paw says slow down. I run too fast!"

He can't pass the red step without mentioning that Paw-Paw trips over it. Not only that, he points to random steps (uneven sidewalks) and says that Paw-Paw trips over them, as well.

We were eating tacos a few days ago and Nathan told me that he likes tacos. Then he added, "Paw-Paw likes tacos, too." I don't know where that one came from. He doesn't know if Paw-Paw likes tacos, or not. Everything is Paw-Paw! I guess that works out because Nathan is Paw-Paw's everything too.

One On One

Nathan and I have been spending a lot of one on one time together for the past six days. It doesn't look like things are going to be changing any time soon. At least not for the next few days anyways. Steve flew a jet to Qatar last Tuesday to swap out with a broken one. As I expected, in true Steve fashion, he's not coming home as planned. It looks like Nathan and I will be keeping each other company a little while longer. Here are some pictures from the past few days to show Steve what all he's missing out on. One second thought, maybe I shouldn't post them, considering he has nothing to do at all except for eat, sleep and take an occasional swim. He'll never come home!

Nathan has a huge tent that sets right in the family room at all times, but for some reason, a homemade tent consisting of blanket thrown over the table was way cooler.

We also went to Storybook Island. It's a huge playground with storybook character statues all over the place.
This is what Nathan does when I tell him to go stand next to something so I can get his picture. He faces the object instead of the camera.
Most of these characters are pretty ghetto and don't really look like the original characters. This is supposed to be the Little Mermaid. Her hair isn't even orange.

Nathan had fun climbing on the playground and sliding.

He's hooked on Capri Suns now.
When he finishes it, he hands it to me and says, "Hold it, but don't squeeze it." I guess that shows he listens to me.
We also went downtown to Summer Nights. Nathan ran through the water sprayer tent a couple of times.
Blowing his pinwheel.
He's been so artistic (translation: naughty) with his chalk lately, so I thought he might like some bathtub paint.

When I was so sick, I couldn't stand to have all 200 cars spread all over the living room. I kept 40 of them out for Nathan to play with, but apparently that wasn't very much fun. He quit playing with them for a while. I surprised him with the rest of his cars and now that's the first thing he starts talking about in the mornings. He comes and wakes me up and says, "I need to build a road. How 'bout Mommy build a road too."
He thinks he's so funny... until the bucket handle gets caught under his chin and he freaks out because he can't get the bucket off his head. That's the part that Steve and I think is funny.
Nathan likes sitting at his little table and eating now. It's even more fun outside.
We went to Dinosaur Park (about three times so far). That's one of his most recent requests. I'm not sick of it yet. It's closer than the airplanes and it's easier to get him to leave.
This is what I get now when I ask him to smile for the camera.
Again, his smile face.
Climbing on the rocks.
It's so funny to think that people travel to Rapid City for vacations and this is one of their stops. Nathan made me realize that as we were leaving. He pointed to a dinosaur and said, "I see that dinosaur all the time."
This is an Uncle Joe outfit. If Uncle Joe is at home, there is a 100% chance that he has a white t-shirt and gray sweat shorts on. He even has these exact shoes. Maybe not exactly the same, Uncle Joe's aren't velcro.
We went to the Great Black Hill Duck Race at Memorial Park. Nathan played this super fun game. You pay a dollar and get to pick a duck. The duck had a number on the bottom which determined his prize. He gave it two tries and won a roll of smarties, a piece of bubble gum and a sucker. He was completely satisfied with his prizes.
Before we leave the house everyday, he asks me if I have my phone and sunglasses. I guess I've made him wait for me a few times while I grab those two items. He's so funny.
Watching some kids play frisbee.
Nathan posed with the duck. Again, he thinks he has to face whatever it is he's posing with.
Talk about up to the minute blogging. This just in. No blog posts for a few days because of the chance of this type of thing happening. I thought he was watching Noggin until I heard chalk tapping.... not on the chalkboard either. I wish I could say these are the only items he's "tagged," but I can't. Our landlord is going to kick us out.
Good thing Paw-Paw keeps a steady supply of TVs coming in.
