It's a Girl!

We took a family outing this morning to the doctor's office. Today was a pretty big deal. We found out whether Nathan is having a baby brother or a baby sister. Just as I suspected, we're having a baby girl! I don't know whether I'm more excited about being right or about having a baby girl. I tried telling Steve that I was sure it was a girl and I even told him that Nathan was a boy. He didn't believe me on either one. Hopefully by now he's learned his lesson that I'm always right.

Of course, as I was lying on the table during the ultrasound, Nathan had to sit up there with me. It was so cute. As soon as the technician put the gel on my stomach, Nathan stuck his hand in it and said, "I rub it." Then during the visit with Dr. Frederickson, Nathan was his usual friendly self that just couldn't talk enough. She commented on how he is the cutest kid she's ever delivered throughout her entire career. Maybe those weren't her exact words, but she did say that she could just spend all day listening to all that he has to say. I told her that she certainly could spend all day listening because he never stops talking! He always has something to talk about.

Here are some of Baby Kathryn's first pictures. She was lucky enough to get the 3-D images. These pictures make her look like Hank with all the lumps and bumps, but it's just the way the these pictures look. She actually looks normal. That's what the doctor told us anyway.
Steve's family is probably already saying she looks just like him, and my family is probably saying she looks like me.
She already looks mad at the world.
Here are her little legs and feet.
He's not so sure about all this little sister talk. "I not wike wittle sister." This is going to be an interesting situation! He'll change his mind after he realizes how much fun it is to pick on her. Just ask Uncle Joe.

One day a couple of months ago, Steve opened the trunk of my car and got an eye-full of pink stuff. He thought I was crazy. I was so sure that this was a baby girl that I started buying stuff a long time ago.
Nathan is breaking in this basket for his baby sister.
Anyone who knows me knows that my baby girl is going to be wearing Juicy Couture from day 1. I'm just going to go ahead and say that Baby Kathryn's wardrobe is going to be ridiculous. It's not even going to be because of me. Lady is probably out shopping right now. She wanted a baby girl just as bad as I did.
This is still Nathan's blog, so I'll stop talking about Baby Kathryn and fill you in on some of Nathan's and my activities since we arrived back in South Dakota. I'm sure you can guess where our first stop was.

On our flight back home, Nathan repeatedly asked if we could go see Paw-Paw and Lady and Mace and Hank. He would get so mad at me when I would tell him that we'll see them again soon. That's not what he wanted to hear. He wanted to take Mace and Hank for a walk and wanted to take Hank potty and wanted to give Hank and Lily treats. He had a whole list of stuff that he needed to do at Paw-Paw and Lady's house. I tried taking his mind off of all the fun he had in Georgia and promised him that we would go see airplanes.

I also promised him that we would go see the dinosaurs.

We made Daddy his favorite banana pudding. Nathan helped eat the bananas as I sliced them.
We've also taken a few walks since we've been back. Only about two or three a day.

He decided that he would like to take his car for a drive. The walks don't take nearly as long as they did with him on foot, but he still makes me stop so that he can get out and look at certain trees.
When Paw-Paw visited, he pretended to trip over this red step every time they walked. Now every time we pass this step, Nathan say, "Paw-Paw trips on red step!" Then we laugh at silly Paw-Paw.

Our daytime walks always end with a visit with our neighbor's dog.

We have also been enjoying playing in our own yard. We feel so high class now that we have grass.

  1. It looks like Baby Kathryn has some long fingers and toes...just like her Mommy, Paw-Paw and Nathan.

I went shopping last night and it took all my self control not to buy something for a baby girl.

Just for the record, I wasn't aware of half the things Joseph did to Megan when they were kids. I just told him he was in charge when I was gone. He must of been taking advantage of his authority.

  7. Hi Megan,
YOU'RE PREGNANT!! I tried calling you over the 4th but I guess you weren't in. I'll try again, but congratulations on the baby girl! I really think she looks just like you, she has your chin. Can't wait to see some pictures of her. You take care and I'll fill you in on the latest when we talk.
