Paw-Paw Withdrawal

If Steve and I have to listen to another Paw-Paw story I think we're going to go nuts. Everything is "Paw-Paw does this or Paw-Paw says this." We've been home for over two weeks, but he still asks to go to Paw-Paw and Lady's house several times a day.

Every night as Nathan is falling asleep he tells me the same train story over and over until he falls asleep. It goes like this, "Paw-Paw found the train. Paw-Paw ran fast. The train went fast. The train whistled. I was scared, but Paw-Paw held you (he means 'me')." Paw-Paw heard a train coming so he scooped Nathan up while we were in Marietta Square and ran him over to the tracks so he could see the train. After we got home to Rapid City, Nathan and I were stopped by a train near our house and I pointed it out to him. He got so excited and told me that Paw-Paw found that train too.

Then we were buying toothpaste one day and he noticed the mouthwash on the other side of the aisle. He wanted to go see the orange kind. I pushed him to it and he told me "Paw-Paw drinks that."

As he runs up and down the hall he yells, "Paw-Paw says slow down. I run too fast!"

He can't pass the red step without mentioning that Paw-Paw trips over it. Not only that, he points to random steps (uneven sidewalks) and says that Paw-Paw trips over them, as well.

We were eating tacos a few days ago and Nathan told me that he likes tacos. Then he added, "Paw-Paw likes tacos, too." I don't know where that one came from. He doesn't know if Paw-Paw likes tacos, or not. Everything is Paw-Paw! I guess that works out because Nathan is Paw-Paw's everything too.

  1. Nathan does love his Paw-Paw, that's for sure. Like you said, the feeling is mutual. I hear
Paw-Paw say at least once a day, "Nathan needs to be back at our house".
    Love, Lady

  2. I know. He told me that I needed to go on bed rest and the only way that could be done was by sending Nathan down there.
