Ahhhhh, it's been so nice hearing Nathan's door slowly creek open each morning at 7 something, then hearing him whiz past my bedroom door to go find Paw-Paw. I've been sleeping for a couple more hours before heading out to say good morning. I know it's a good morning when I walk out and Nathan greets me by telling me, "No, go back to sweep."
Then the day gets even better when Paw-Paw and Nathan head out for their daily adventures and Nathan makes sure to let me know that I'm not invited. Life has been good.
Here are some pictures from the past six days.
Paw-Paw and Nathan definitely put the sidewalk chalk to good use.
Steve is going to be happy to see the new grass when he gets home. He can thank Nathan for being ready and willing to water all day long.
One of many trips to the playground. (This was one of those trips that I not only wasn't invited to, but Nathan made sure to let me know that I wasn't welcome!)
I was absolutely right when I said that Paw-Paw was going to wish he never would have gotten Nathan a train set of his very own. I caught him trying to sneak and put the train away on a couple of occasions. He finally succeeded on his last night here.
Nathan makes sure to let everyone know that the bed in the spare bedroom is Lady's bed. I don't know why, but he's certain that that bed belongs to Lady. He's nice enough to let other people sleep in it, though. Paw-Paw laid on the bench in the backyard and said he was going to sleep there. Nathan told him that he was not going to sleep there, that he had to sleep in Lady's bed. Then he went and jumped on him.
Winding down and watching
Aristocats after one of their busy days.
This game was a major hit. He chased Paw-Paw around the yard with the water hose.
This game lasted until we ran out of water. That's what he thought anyways.
They took as many as four walks on some days.
Chasing Paw-Paw around with a handful of grass to throw on him.
Hanging out at his favorite tree.
Paw-Paw sure was sorry that he started this game.
This was the closest thing to a break that Paw-Paw got. He sat down and told Nathan it was his turn to push him. That lasted about five seconds then it was back to doing as Nathan requested.
Guess how many times Paw-Paw heard the phrase, "No, Paw-Paw not need to rest!"
Nathan helped me make mashed potatoes. This particular recipe is called "Nater's Taters."
While watching
Aristocats for the billionth time, Nathan decided that he would like to paint like one of the kittens. When Nathan gets an idea in his head, that's all you're going to hear about until you just give in.
He made some beautiful finger paint artwork.
Nathan will be expecting another paycheck from Philips in the mail. Paw-Paw did a little bit of work while he was here, but not without Nathan's help.
Nathan's hair was out of control. Paw-Paw needs to start planning his Nathan visits closer together since he's the official haircutting chaperone.
This is the Gerken in Nathan coming out. Just kidding. :) We went to Chili's for lunch one day and Nathan heard a baby crying behind us. He immediately told me to go check on the baby. I told him that the baby's mom would check on her. That answer wasn't good enough. He tried climbing over my lap and said, "I just need to go check it." Then the whole way home he was talking about that baby. I saw this as the perfect opportunity to mention his baby sister. He is totally on board with me bringing a baby home to live with him. He is so excited about holding her and feeding her a bottle and changing her diaper. He is also super stoked about sharing his airplanes and train set with her. Pretty much anything he's playing with now, he mentions that the baby is going to play with it, too. Thank goodness for that crying baby at Chili's!
Nathan and Paw-Paw got in their last little bit of playing together before we all headed off to bed.
I don't think Nathan could survive living in a house that didn't have such a great straightaway for running. I think Nathan has made everyone who has ever entered this house chase him up and down the hall.
The fun came to an end early this morning. Not only because Paw-Paw had to go home, but because I was greeted by Nathan at 4:30 a.m. saying, "Mommy, Mommy. Mommy." in the saddest voice you can imagine. I squatted down on the floor with him and he climbed on my lap then proceeded to cover us both in vomit. I handed Nathan off to Paw-Paw to clean up as I got myself cleaned up before we went to the airport. We dropped Paw-Paw off and came home for another vomiting episode, which happened to cover us both again. We cleaned up and went to bed and now we're taking it easy for the rest of the day.
Notice the picture Nathan is carrying around. I would have to say he is a little obsessed with Paw-Paw. He decided that he needed to sleep with this picture this morning. Then when he woke up he laid in bed talking to Paw-Paw. Then he said, "I just like Paw-Paw."
It's probably best that Paw-Paw left this morning because I don't think he would have been able to handle seeing Nathan sick. Sucks for me, though!
