Gymnastics Stud

We finally made it to Nathan's actual gymnastics class. The class on Monday was a makeup class from the week before that he missed. Turns out, the Monday class is the one with all the boys. Nathan's class has a 8:1 ratio on girls to boys. He has his pick of the ladies, that's for sure. It's funny to watch the obvious difference between how little girls and boys play. Nathan is much more physical and aggressive than the girls.

Paw-Paw got to watch Nathan in action. He took pictures and cracked up the whole time. I have to admit, Nathan was pretty hilarious. For example, when Ms. Erin asked Nathan if he wanted to do a cartwheel, Nathan responded with, "No way. No way. No way." Then when she asked Nathan if he could "tuck like a duck," Nathan responded with, "I'm too big to tuck like a duck." There was no denying that he was the class clown. Maybe he was trying to impress the ladies.

Nathan hates the circle part of the group. He hates touching his toes and doing the stretches and that kind of stuff. He just wants to go in there and play. So here he is towards the end of class not doing the cool down exercises because he was "sleepy."
But, then here he is after the cool down exercises once Ms. Erin got a ball out. All of the sudden, he wasn't sleepy anymore. He saw the ball and immediately made his way over to the circle The game worked like this. Ms. Erin would call the kid's name, then she would roll the ball to the child. It took every bit of self-restraint he had not to interfere with the other kids turns. When she called Nathan's name, he jumped up and held his arms out to catch it. She told him that she was going to roll it to him so he sat back down. She rolled it, he caught it, then jumped up and cocked his arm back and ran to the center of the circle and hurled it back at her. That's just one small difference between Nathan's play style compared to the rest of class' style.
Then we headed back home to "play train tracks." By the time Paw-Paw leaves next week, he's going to wish he would have never gotten that train set for Nathan.
Nathan was outside coloring with chalk yesterday afternoon. Paw-Paw outlined Nathan on the patio, then he filled in his hair and face and Nathan added a belly button. Then Paw-Paw added fingers and toes, but apparently the toes Paw-Paw drew weren't to Nathan's satisfaction. Nathan ran over and drew more toes and said, "I want long toes!" You can see his belly button and added toes in the picture.

  1. You all are having a great time, I'm sure! I'm just keeping the home fires burning, by mowing the lawn, edging, pulling weeds and taking Mace & Hank for walks. Lady
