Dinosaur Park

Nathan and I spent the entire day together, just hanging out. Steve is night flying so he won't get home until midnight or later. When Steve left this morning, I told Nathan that Daddy was going to go fly an airplane, but Mommy was going to stay home with Nathan. Nathan didn't forget, he reminded me several times today that "Daddy fying. Mommy home." Nathan and I took a walk down the block and played outside for a little while. It's pretty cold here, but I was going to go crazy if I had to stay cooped up indoors one more day. I'm sure Nathan felt the same way.
This hat was one of the best purchases Grandma and Grandpa (Lady and PawPaw) ever made.
Nathan gets lots of attention when he wears this hat.
We went to Panchero's for a late lunch/early dinner. The plan was to eat then go cross some things off of our "to do" list. While we were eating, I made the mistake of pointing out the dinosaur (Dinosaur Park) on top of the hill that was in view from the restaurant window. Nathan thought that there was no time to waste, we needed to go see that dinosaur right away. Needless to say, we went straight to Dinosaur Park.
Again, in his awesome hat.
Letting him climb up and down the steps by himself in hopes of wearing him out. No such luck.
Climbing on the dinosaurs.
Taking in the view of Rapid City. Nothing special.
We went to the animal shelter on Saturday, but everyone in Rapid City had the same idea we had. Let me rephrase that, everyone who was sick and smelled like cigarette smoke with children with rivers of snot on their faces was at the animal shelter. We opted to put Nathan's health first and leave and take our chances with Ichi being adopted by someone else. It wasn't even my idea to leave, it was Steve's...if that tells you how bad it was. We went back today to drop off our old towels and blankets and we checked in on Ichi. He was waiting for his new owners to pick him up. From the first day Nathan met Ichi, he's been saying, "Bye-bye, Eee-eee" when we drive near the animal shelter. We'll keep looking for Nathan's future best friend.

  1. Looks like Nathan and his Mama had a fun day together. If Megan has forgotten, there are two loving dogs in Marietta, GA who, I think, need the Meissner's love. Unfortunately, the dogs don't feel the same way. Hank doesn't like military people and Mace doesn't like anyone who takes Megan's attention away from him. Lady
