Boys' Weekend (May 23-27th)

After several hours of begging, Megan finally agreed to let me make an entry on Nate’s blog. After she reads this and sees the pics, though, I think it may just be the last time I make an entry.

Nathan and my weekend started with a long drive from Rapid City to Oma and Opa’s house in MN and we dropped Megan off at the airport on the way.  Once we ditched her, “Boys’ Weekend” officially kicked off and there was only one thing on our minds---Opa’s homebrew!!! We hurried to Rush City, woke Oma and Opa up at 3am and cracked open a couple homebrews. Don’t worry, Megan, I didn’t let Nate drink straight beer.  I diluted it (4 parts water and one part beer), just like you said to do with juice.  Well, maybe he had a few sips straight when he found my bottle.

We got the munchies, so we shared some cheesy poof crunchies.

That homebrew really hit the spot!!!   As you can see, Nathan liked it so much he passed out with the bottle still in his mouth.

Alright, I have to admit that the first picture up top was actually taken around Christmas---but it fit into my little story so well.  Megan just informed me that that’s against the rules in the blog world.  In fact, she also is telling me that I’ve managed to break every single rule so far (lying being the major one).  In my squadron, we get together on Friday afternoons and tell stories about each other over a few beers.  We cannot lie, the stories have to be at least 10% true.  Well, Megan, that story above is at least 30% true, so pretty accurate by my standards. Anywho, I’ll follow all of the rules in the rest of the blog (we'll see how boring it gets, then).

On Saturday, Nathan hung out with Oma and Opa so I could go out with my cousins in St Paul. Nathan’s cousins Laura and Karl also came over to play.

Sunday was another action-packed day with a family gathering at Oma and Opa’s.  Laura and Karl came over again as well as Nathan’s other two cousins on my side, Aly and Emily.  Nathan was a little intimidated at first by the four crazy cousins running around, but by the end of the day he thought they were great.  Nathan loves playing with his cousins.  It was a tough feat, but we rounded them all up and got them to sit still just long enough to get a few pictures on the big swing.

On Monday, Nathan and I rested up for our big journey the next day to Atlanta.  We grilled out at Matt and Deborah’s and Nate got another chance to play with a few of his cousins.  He had a blast playing outside with Karl all afternoon.  Since I forgot to take any pictures, I figured I’d just throw in a random pic from the Bahamas.

Tuesday marked the end of the first part of our stay in MN as uncle Matt dropped us off at the airport.  I was very nervous about the flight even though Megan made flying with Nathan sound so easy.  He was a wild man at the gate waiting for the flight, but I didn’t mind because he was making friends with everyone on the flight and tiring himself out.  On takeoff roll, Nate couldn’t keep his eyes open and he slept most of the flight.  He flew great.   You’ve all heard about his reaction to Megan when we arrived in Atlanta.  She gave all of her affection to Mace trying to make Nathan jealous (Mace took full advantage of the situation).  Well, it must have worked because by the end of the night Nathan was back to being a Mama's boy.  I will admit, though, it was fun being his favorite for a couple of days.

Thank you, Megan, for allowing me this opportunity to write on Nathan's blog.  Even if you allow me to write again, I don't think I will because it's too much damn work!

  1. What a hilarious entry to Nathan's blog! Nathan has some pretty funny parents. No wonder Nathan is the same way!
