One Tough Cookie

Sadly, Nathan had an encounter with a yellow jacket today. He was playing with rocks in the backyard then, out of the blue, he let out a loud cry. I knew right away what happened before I even got to him. I picked him up and the yellow jacket was still stuck to his back thigh. It took two swats get it off him. Panic struck immediately because I didn't know if Nathan was allergic to stings. Other than his pain, he seemed to be fine. I rushed to the drug store to get something for his sting and called his pediatrician because nothing was recommended for children under two. Steve got home and we teamed up for the removal of the stinger and he was back to his cheery self. The whole ordeal was taken care of in about 30 minutes then he played like a champ for the rest of the night.

At least Nathan's day started off on a happy note. We went to Old MacDonald's Petting Farm. He had a great time, as usual. As soon as we pulled in the parking lot he started whining to get out of his car seat. He rode the tractor train as soon as we got there.

He hung out with the cows for a bit.
Nathan was pretty fascinated with the chicks today.
We visited them three times during our visit at the farm.
He tried climbing in there with the chicks.
Like always, Nathan had to take a break to play in the gravel. This turkey thought Nathan had food. It kept grabbing the rocks out of Nathan's hands.
As expected, we spent most of our time with the goats. Unfortunately, my camera battery died right after this picture. It was just more of the same stuff you've already seen anyways. This goat ran to me and climbed on my lap.
Speaking of tough cookies, or maybe just the opposite, Nathan learned a new way to enjoy his Oreos....with milk. This was his first dunk, so he was a little apprehensive.
Nathan caught me dunking my Oreo in milk and he wanted in on the action.
Nathan dunks his cookie wrist-deep in the milk.
He is totally taking advantage of the situation. He's sticking his other hand in the milk and he's not even holding a cookie.
Nathan takes his Oreo consumption very seriously.

  2. I told Jeff that something must have happened to Nathan since you didn't answer your cell phone twice!! I hate that I was right! It's not like you to not answer. Too bad I wasn't there with my Epipen!
