Grandparents Galore

Everyone who knows me, knows that I wouldn't think twice about going to the hospital to deliver this baby solo if that meant that Nathan's life wouldn't be interrupted. Yes. Nathan is extremely spoiled. I won't ever try to say he's not. He's not only spoiled by me, but his grandparents are taking shifts to be on call babysitters for the next couple of weeks so that he can stay home when the time comes and so that Steve can be a part of Kathryn's birth. Looking at it from Nathan's perspective, can life get any better than this? Grandparents at his beck and call for weeks at a time.

Opa is taking the first leg of this babysitting journey. Nathan certainly didn't hesitate when he saw Opa. Little did Opa know that Nathan had been planning his days and nights in advance. So far they have been to the Air and Space Museum, Menard's, McDonald's, Cabela's (all multiplied by 2 or 3) and I'm sure that's not all Nathan has planned for him. When they aren't out and about, Opa has been busy playing with cars and airplanes and this big pink ball. He probably hears, "Opa go get it. Hurry!" when he falls asleep at night. He has certainly ran his fair share of laps up and down the hall chasing that big pink ball.

Opa was visiting when I went into labor with Nathan, so I'm hoping he has the ability to lure Kathryn out of her safe haven, as well. Last night, Steve, Opa and I were sitting around talking and Steve mentioned that he had a four hour flight the next day. Then we started talking about what we would have to do in that situation and I immediately saw where Steve gets his composure (or lack there of) from. The look on Opa's face was priceless when he thought for a second that he might to have to be more than just Nathan's babysitter. I assured him that all he would have to do is drop me off at the hospital and I would be able to handle the rest. Boy was he relieved!
