We decided to take Kathryn to Mount Rushmore before we move away so that she can say she's been there. On our way there, it started pouring down rain so we decided to wait it out at Reptile Gardens. We've been wanting to go there, but we've been waiting for Nathan to be old enough to enjoy it. I think we waited just the right amount of time because he really thought it was cool.
We watched a snake show. They had a bunch of venomous snakes, but I was too scared to take more pictures because I was afraid my flash would scare them and they might strike at me and kill me.
The snakes are kept in those drawers and as soon as the snake-handler pulled out this drawer, the snake popped his head right out. I almost died. I hate snakes, but at the same time they're pretty cool to see.
We saw some pretty cool animals in the rainforest.
A macaw.
We saw some pretty huge alligators and crocodiles.
Baby Sister and a giant American Alligator.
How fitting.
Baby Sister and a crocodile.
We saw some disgusting bugs.
Some really, really disgusting bugs. Here are some itty-bitty cockroaches. The display is what grossed me out the worst because I'm pretty sure I've eaten and some restaurants that have kitchens similar to this one.
I absolutely hate snakes, but I finally gave in and let Nathan pet one. I even pet this one.
We saved Baby Sister from that giant snake just in the nick of time.
I asked the hen if Mom likes me best. Sorry Uncle Joe, the hen wouldn't lie.
Look at those crazy cowboys.
One big, happy family at Reptile Gardens.

Nathan said he was starving, as usual, so we left and found him a restaurant.
He finally agreed to only order one kid's meal. He wanted a hamburger and chicken, so he ordered chicken and Steve ordered a hamburger to share with him. Sure enough, he ate everything, including some of my baked potato. He's going though a serious growth spurt right now and his too short pants are proof.
This is the standard that I hold Nathan to.
Anything Baby Sister wants....
...Baby Sister gets.
This place will forever be home to Nathan and Kathryn.
There you go, Baby Sister. You've experienced Mount Rushmore. You can thank us later.
Mount Rushmore is nothing new to Nathan. He's been several times.
The best part of Mount Rushmore...... the rock candy from the gift shop.
Exhausted on the ride home.

Nathan was hilarious and kept us laughing all day long and Kathryn was so sweet and giggly. That was one fun Sunday, if I do say so myself.
I think it's a tradition that Steve introduces beer to all the Meissner babies. I've got plenty of photographic proof...
ReplyDeleteP.S. Yes, I'm sure Kathryn will thank you later :)
What a fun, family day you had. Hopefully, Nathan will remember all the fun places he's beeen in his short life. Lady
ReplyDeleteI think that stupid hen needs to be repaired. It obviously has a short circuit.
