Playground Player

On our sunny, yet cold and windy, days we've been trying to get some good playground time in. Recently, when I arrive at school to pick Nathan up he totally ignores me because he's too busy playing on the playground. I know he sees me, but he tries to act like he doesn't so that he doesn't have to leave. I told you one day he wasn't going to want me around. I thought it might at least be a couple of years down the road, but I guess I was wrong. I guess I just can't compete with a playground.
"This sucks. Get me out."
This picture looks familiar to all of us. This is a typical bossy Nathan look.
Baby Sister hiding out under the playground while covered with blankets and the stroller shade. It is super windy on base.
When I pulled into the playground parking lot, I unbuckled Nathan and he took off running down that hill at full speed. As you can see, the car is not close.
This activity wore him out.
He ran down that hill so many times. I was just waiting for him to fall and sprain his ankle.
Just watching Nathan was enough to wear Kathryn out.
I'll take this opportunity to share with you a joke told to me by Nathan. It was his first fully executed joke.

Nathan: Knock-knock.
Mommy: Who's there?
Nathan: Can.
Mommy: Can who?
Nathan: Can I come in? It's freezing out here.

I laughed so hard, not because it's a funny joke, but because it was so funny hearing Nathan tell a joke. He's becoming quite the jokester.

When I ask Nathan where something is now, his response is always, "I don't know. I must be in outer space."

Another perk to Nathan's schooling is his ability to incorporate the word "doo-doo" into just about any conversation. I guess that's what happens when you throw three-year-olds in with six-year-olds.

Mommy: Nathan, do you want tacos for dinner?
Nathan: Mommy, do you want doo-doo for dinner?

You get the idea. I wonder how much longer I can take this before it gets on my nerves really bad.

  1. I'm imagining Nathan saying these things in his sweet little voice--hilarious!

  2. It looks sunny and warm in the pictures but seeing how bundled up Nathan is shows that it is not. You can never get rid of that hat Nathan is wearing, it is a trademark now. There are tons of pictures of him wearing it outside... probably because you were forced to live in South Dakota! I bet you're excited to get outta there.
